Mental Health Program
Program Overview & Key Initiatives
The 5 Star Community Development Corporation (CDC) Mental Health & Wellness Initiative builds on Baltimore City’s recent progress in reducing violent crime, strengthening community trust, and expanding access to wellness resources. As Baltimore continues to see meaningful declines in shootings, homicides, and juvenile-related incidents—thanks in part to alternative reform efforts, community-based programs, and mental health-centered approaches, 5 Star CDC is helping accelerate that momentum.
Our initiative supports the city’s forward movement by providing accessible, culturally aligned mental health and wellness services to youth, adults, and families. The program offers preventive and skill-building supports such as mental health check-ins, emotional wellness workshops, peer circles, conflict resolution training, youth leadership development, and connection to counseling or other community resources when needed.
By partnering with schools, local organizations, returning-citizen support programs, and neighborhood associations, 5 Star CDC creates coordinated networks that help individuals manage stress, strengthen decision-making skills, and build healthier relationships—all key drivers of long-term violence reduction.
Our mission is to support residents in growing mentally, emotionally, and socially, creating a Baltimore that thrives together.
